While trying to contain a tragic accident site on Long Island last month where a horse trailer became disconnected from its truck, rescue workers felt woefully inadequate trying to handle the injured and dying horses. Clearly, they had no experience with the large animals, and some were moved to tears when explaining how helpless they felt.

Farewell Barbaro
This is a tribute to Barbaro, a Thoroughbred racehorse, who captured the hearts of millions of people all over the world. It is a 'farewell' piece, to a beautiful horse who won the 132nd Kentucky Derby, and suffered a devastating injury during the 2006 Preakness Stakes. Although he did not prevail, his story is an inspiration, and a beacon for courage and love.

The Triple Crown Races
In the late 1800s, three different tracks were created to test three year old horses. These races were Belmont Stakes, Preakness and Kentucky Derby. The first time all three races were held in the same year was in 1875. In 1919, Sir Barton became the first horse to win all the three races. The term, Tripe Crown was coined in 1930 by Charles Hatton, a columnist, who used it to cover the horse Gallant Fox’s winning efforts.

So, Keep a close eye on: him, the rest of the horses that are covered in this report; and, as a matter of fact, all of the other 2007 Kentucky Derby Contenders.
Because, any horse that is capable of increasing its Speed-Pace-Stamina Rating by 14 percent per Derby prep race ... and not over exert itself ... You can safely consider to be a solid Derby contender.
